College Media Network

Students from the San José State University School of Journalism & Mass Communications have an array of award winning campus media on which to gain experience and exposure. These include a nationally known student newspaper, a regularly scheduled television news broadcast, an online news outlet and a student magazine.

Spartan Daily small logo The student-run Spartan Daily has established a legacy of excellence since it was founded in 1934. The Daily regularly wins awards at the annual California Intercollegiate Press Association competitions. Over 30,000 students, faculty, and staff turn to the Spartan Daily to present them with current and late breaking news, both local and national. Want to work for the Daily? Update News logo Update News is an award winning television newscast that is produced and anchored by students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. It airs weekly to 14 Northern California counties over local PBS affiliate KTEH and is streamed worldwide over the Internet. Update News has won the California Intercollegiate Press Association award for Best College Newscast 17 times since 1982.

Access Magazine logo SJSU's award-winning Access magazine has been published every semester since Fall, 1987. Students in JOUR 155, Magazine Editing & Production, serve as editors, art directors and photo editors, designing the entire magazine. All of the writing, artwork and photography has been submitted by students from across the university. Since its inception, Access has won 96 regional and national awards.

SJSU students will also find opportunities to create media in the department of Television, Radio, Film & Theatre.
