Santa Clara County's bus system faces a major shake-up if a Valley Transportation Authority proposal is passed this August, VTA officials said Thursday.

According to the VTA's Comprehensive Operations Analysis, some bus routes currently fall well bellow the VTA's "boardings per revenue hour," meaning that some routes don't meet the 33-riders-per-hour standard.

Those fortunate enough to attend Nu Alpha Kappa's comedy show on April 5 got the chance to laugh to Phat Joe, Jacob Sirof, and newcomer for the well-known group, Latin King's of Comedy, Manny Maldonado. The San Jose City Council made public the San Jose Department of Housing's draft of the Annual Action Plan 2007-2008 Tuesday, according to Melissa Whatley, policy and planning manager for the housing department in San Jose. San Jose State University's graduating seniors once again have the opportunity to give back to the school and future students before their commencement. The senior gift, which used to be a tradition, is being re-established at SJSU, said Robin Bates, manager of annual giving and special gifts. (0) comments

The stars were out and the lights were on as students, alumni, faculty and community members gathered at the California Theater last Wednesday night for a musical celebration of San Jose State University's 150th anniversary. The sesquicentennial concert included a who's who of distinguished people from the San Jose area in the audience and Symphony Silicon Valley on stage along with performers from Opera San Jose and SJSU. In a three-part conference on April 6, the San Jose State University justice studies department hosted a "prison crisis" forum, in the old University Room located on the side of the cafeteria across from the music building. The conference was catered with food to a capacity crowd of about 120 people including students, faculty and professors from various universities and colleges around California; and two academic representatives from out of state came to SJSU as guest speakers.
