Video games and fitness usually don't go hand-in-hand, but the Nintendo Wii is showing that gamers can lose weight and still have fun at the same time.

According to Philadelphian Mickey DeLorenzo's blog on WiiNintendo.net, in early December of 2006, the 25-year-old came up with what he calls the "Wii Workout," after he and his fiancée found themselves out of breath when playing "Wii Sports" boxing game.

At an Associated Students board meeting on Feb. 15, members of the California Faculty Association, as well as students, pleaded with the board to publicly support the CFA's cause. The CFA, which is a union that represents the roughly 23,000 professors, librarians, counselors and coaches in the 23-campus CSU system, has been bargaining for better wages since September 2006, according to Jonathan Karpf, chair of the California Faculty Association strike organizing committee and a San Jose State University lecturer of anthropology. Students have no need to fear, Sammy Spartan will be back in the fall according to assistant athletic director Erica Mares. San Jose State University's mascot Sammy Spartan is having a face lift done and has missed a few events, Mares said, but he should be back in time for the next football season. (0) comments
