Yesterday's shootings at Virginia Tech University had students of San Jose State University shocked, upset and worried about their safety on a college campus.

A new combined soccer and football stadium at San Jose State University's south campus would not use any city or student money to be built, according to a report released yesterday by the city. SJSU President Don Kassing has been in discussions with Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff and Mayor Chuck Reed over the past several months regarding the new stadium, however, the report is the first time specific details have officially been released to the public. In a three-day-long series of events called Derby Days, Sigma Chi is teaming up with several Greek Panhellenic organizations to raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Research Institute. A tradition since the '60s, Sigma Chi will host three competitive events, starting today, in hopes to attract more people to their final skit night where all proceeds will go to the cancer research institute with the largest genetic database, said Eric Groza, a senior majoring in graphic design and president of the fraternity.
