San Jose's forecast today will be partly cloudy with last night's patchy fog from the coast still remaining in the morning, according to the San Jose State University meteorology department, which compiled its information from the National Weather Service on April 5.

The high temperatures today were measured to be around the 60s at the coast to mid 70s inland, with west winds traveling at about 10 to 25 mph.

The partial clouds is expected to stay into the night with temperature lows in the mid 40s to lower 50s, and the west winds predicted to slow down to 10 to 20 mph.

Booker Prize winner Kiran Desai held a public reading and book signing in front of a crowd of 150 people - including community members, faculty, staff and students - Tuesday evening at the University Theatre. Desai's first novel, "Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard," was a critically acclaimed success, and her second novel, "The Inheritance of Loss," was awarded the Booker Prize in 2006 and the National Book Critics Circle Fiction Award in 2007. Every year, the month of April is devoted to recognizing alcohol awareness and the San Jose State University Prevention Education Program can help students on campus make responsible choices about alcohol and drugs.
