Author returns after 50 years

On the 50th anniversary of his graduation from San Jose State University, highly-acclaimed author James D. Houston will be at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Joint Library today to converse with the public and sign books. Even the rain could not dampen the spirit and candles during Tuesday night's Take Back the Night event. Originally set to take place in the Campus Village quad, but relocated due to the weather, the event saw people trickle into the Loma Prieta room of the Student Union where an audience just shy of 100 came to participate in an international rally and march. Eighth-grade students filed into a classroom Tuesday afternoon at Burnett Academy in San Jose to get out of the rain and start on their homework.
