The level was in the game so that you could see up close the atrocities that the antagonist commits, motivating you to defeat him. Do not complain if you played through the level. You made the choice to play it when you encountered the checkpoint in the beginning of the game asking if you wouldn't be comfortable with levels containing extremely graphic violence. You were slowed down because 1) the game doesn't want you rushing ahead of your comrades and 2) because you are weighed down by weapons, ammo and armor. You say you didn't need to see this level, and you are correct. But because you made the choice to experience graphic violence, you shouldn't be complaining.

I thought it was kinda fun. Sometimes it feels good to be the bad guy.

You also seem to have totally missed the idea that this mission is the setup for the Russian invasion of the USA. From a storyline point of view is a pretty important part of the rational for a Russian invasion of the USA. I think given the current world climate, the idea of a Russian invasion of the USA is pretty laughable and the IW guys found an excellent way to bring the whole "Red Dawn" idea out of the 80's and into the 00's without delving into camp or going with the 'because we said so' that you might find in a James Bond movie.

In the end, try to remember that it is just a game. It is no more offensive than being able to mow down dozens of civilians and cops in Grand Theft Auto IV.
