Bucking tradition
and following the
path of my heart

Abstract:
We get a lot of looks, my boyfriend and I.

Sometimes they're friendly, but many times they're hostile. The negative looks usually come from fellow Indian people, because I'm not dating an Indian man.

I don't go out of my way to avoid dating Indians....

Please be happy that you are an Indo-American. I am glad your parents would approve if you dated an Indian, any Indian. If you were in a fundamentalizt family back in India, whether you were a Hindu or a moslem or even for that matter in the UK, your life would be in danger, even if you dated another Indian as happened recently in a village of Haryana. I dont believe in arranged marriages either and I am over fifty. The process of arranged marriages with dowry and other nonsense is as materialistic as the general western society or most eastern societies.

words are like lines that make up a painting. choose them well, and let them paint away. show them all the beauty they poses inside. give them a sense of pride....ooo pride. maybe thats the point here. pride..... its the basis of parents opinions, they are proud of their past there roots and the culture. and like any parent u have dreams and aspirations. to hide behinds ur parents back is perhaps to stop the shattering of the dream but then you have your own dreams too. just learn that as you grow and as you learn that your parents dreams are meaningful because one day ull have your own. and youll have ur own for your children so be gentle with houw you shatter a dream. and no matter how u rebel make the rebelion a respectful one. Its only the right thing to do

always 15...

ALWAYS!
